Apprenticeships and degree apprenticeships (duales Studium) at the University of Cologne

The University of Cologne does not only educate students, but also offers a wide range of attractive and practice-oriented apprenticeships and degree apprenticeships. We train in 18 different professions in craft, commercial and (media) technical professions. The UoC offers positions for all school-leaving certificates: From erweiterter Hauptschulabschluss (extended secondary school leaving certificate) to Fachoberschulreife (technical secondary school entrance qualification) to the (technical) Abitur.

Auszeichnung für herausragende Ausbildungsleistung

Wir gratulieren unserem Ausbilder Adam Polczyk herzlich zur Auszeichnung als eine der Top 20 Ausbildungspersonen der IHK Köln. Diese Ehrung würdigt das außergewöhnliche Engagement und die hervorragende Arbeit in der Förderung unserer Nachwuchskräfte. Wir sind stolz auf diese Leistung und danken für den wertvollen Beitrag zur Qualität unserer Ausbildung.

The IT Center of the University of Cologne is now part of the KURS network – and looks forward to collaborating with Helios School Cologne. Together, we aim to provide insights into the digital world and inspire young people to engage with topics such as artificial intelligence, programming, and high-performance computing.

Award-Winning Vocational Training at the University of Cologne

On 6 October 2025, Benjamin Jacobi, an apprentice electronics technician for electrical engineering, was honoured by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for his outstanding performance at the Best Apprentice Awards. We congratulate him!

Why pursue an apprenticeship at the University of Cologne? Our former apprentice Pia shares her experience (in German)

As apprentices in the plant nursery, we are able to work very independently during our training and further develop our individual interests. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, which makes working in winter just as enjoyable as in summer.

The website is currently also available in English to give international applicants an initial overview. Please note, however, that the vocational training itself is conducted entirely in German. Good knowledge of German is therefore an important requirement in order to follow the lessons and participate actively.
