Doctoral candidates are supported by the Cologne model of structured doctorates and permanent faculty-wide Graduate Schools (GS). The career development of our academics at every stage is a central priority for us. We have established a wide range of dedicated structures that provide tailored guidance, individual support, and strategic advice throughout every career phase.

The Albertus Magnus Center (AMC) is the central hub for all activities involving early- and mid-career researchers. It networks the permanent graduate schools of the Faculties as well as other relevant offers and structures within the university, thereby creating a sustainable and interdisciplinary training and advisory network.

Our HR development offers provide tailored support for all career pathways and targeted competence development to attract, retain, and nurture talent. By supporting individual growth and professional development, they create the conditions for excellence in research, teaching, and innovation.

The Cologne Leadership Academy (CLA) serves as a central hub for leadership and HR development, offering targeted programmes for leading researchers and management.

Our services include welcome and onboarding activities, coaching and mentoring programmes, as well as mental health and well-being services.
