The University of Cologne is a comprehensive public university and one of Germany's leading research universities, located in the cosmopolitan metropolis of Cologne and the Rhineland. Its around 610 professors and 44,000 students research, teach, and learn in six Faculties and across disciplinary boundaries, supported by about 3,500 administrative staff.
Since its re-foundation as a 'Neue Universität' in 1919, the commitment to research-driven innovation has been a fundamental aspect of its identity, recognizing research and the promotion of a research-oriented mindset as a pivotal catalyst for both the university's comprehensive development and for shaping society.
