When can I submit my application?
The currently advertised vocational training positions can be found here or on the subpages for the respective vocational training programme or integrated degree programme (duales Studium). You can submit your application via the University of Cologne’s job portal. You can also find the link that leads directly to the application form on the pages for the vocational training programmes or integrated degree programme. Can I apply for multiple vocational training programmes?
You can also apply for several vocational training programmes. You can find the link to apply via our job portal here or on the page of the respective vocational training programme or integrated degree programme.
What do the vocational training or integrated degree programme (duales Studium) courses look like?
You will spend your vocational training or integrated degree programme in the department that is training you. In some cases, there are also additional assignments in other locations at the University of Cologne. In addition, trainees attend vocational school (Berufsschule), and dual students attend the corresponding university for the theoretical part of their programme. The exact plan of your vocational training or integrated degree programme (duales Studium) will be discussed with your trainer.
How much will I earn during my vocational training / integrated degree programme (duales Studium)?
You will earn an attractive salary according to the Collective Bargaining Agreement of the Federal States (TVA-L-BBiG):
1st year of training € 1,236.82
2nd year of training € 1,290.96
3rd year of training € 1,340.61
4th year of training € 1,409.51

Why does a university offer vocational training when it’s meant for students?

Where does vocational training take place at the University of Cologne?
The vocational training programmes at the University of Cologne take place at various locations within the university, depending on the area in which the training is being completed. These include: Central administrative departments such as human resources, marketing, or finance. Workshops and laboratories, e.g. in Biology and Physics. Other university facilities, such as the library, the university sports centre, and our central IT department, the ITCC.
