Tuesday, 13 June 2023, 5:00 pm | Reading room of the Küpperstift, Academy for European Human Rights Protection, Kerpener Str. 30, 50676 Cologne, Germany
The Academy for European Human Rights Protection and the Institute for Eastern European and Comparative Law cordially invite you to a book launch and discussion on the occasion of the publication of the anthology "The Other Russia: Voices of Freedom" (Перед лицом катастрофы).
"The war against Ukraine unleashed by the Putin regime is bringing death, destruction and suffering to the Ukrainian people. But this war also means a civilisational catastrophe for Russia. A group of sixteen critical Russian intellectuals (philosophers, sociologists, historians, cultural scientists) have gathered in this volume to publicly articulate their free voice in Russian. The authors live in Russia, Ukraine, Europe and the USA. But they are united by the intention to present a critical stocktaking of the catastrophe. In the contributions, they characterise it from ethical, sociological and anthropological perspectives and devote themselves to analysing the intellectual factors that made this crisis possible." (LitVerlag book description)
The authors Anna Vinkelmann, Nikolaj Plotnikov and Alexander Bikbov are among the speakers and participants in the discussion.
