30 May - 11 June
In light of the ninth annual European Conference on African Studies (ECAS) “African Futures”, the city of Cologne in cooperation with the Global South Studies Center (GSSC, University of Cologne) organises the public program “African Futures – All Around”.
With the intention to highlight Afro-Diasporic voices, the “African Futures – All Around” creates a space in which artists, performers, educators and researchers can showcase the blossoming diversity and creativity of a contemporary Africa through panels, workshops, art and performances. In collaboration with the ECAS, the event aims to change the narrative of Africa, as a submissive recipient of international aid and emphasize a modern Africa, one which is heterogeneous, innovative and an imaginative driving force in the global sphere of economics, scientific research and art.
The “African Futures – All Around” will take place 30 May - 11 June and will feature an abundant program, which takes place all over the city. From dance performances to political discussions, the public program manages to find a common ground for the interests of a wider audience.
