Dr. Amina Hallab

Dr. Amina Hallab has been working as an Academic Councillor at the University of Cologne since 2022, where she conducts research and teaches in the Department of Subject Didactics focusing on Grammar Didactics. She represents the Faculty of Arts in the Junior Faculty Club. Amina Hallab studied German Studies, Romance Studies, and Islamic Studies at the University of Cologne. During her doctoral studies (2005–2010), she worked as a research assistant at Jürgen Lenerz’s Chair at the Institute of German Language and Literature I, researching generative syntax theory. After a two-year postdoctoral period, she switched to teaching at a secondary school in Wuppertal, where she taught French and German in lower and upper secondary levels for almost ten years as part of an OBAS position after her state examination. In the 2018/19 school year, she was seconded to a secondary modern school in Wuppertal. In 2021, she moved to TU Dortmund in the Department of "Linguistics of German: Grammar and Subject Didactics," where she worked as a seconded lecturer and habilitand for three semesters. She returned to the Institute of Language and Literature I at the University of Cologne in the winter semester 2022/23.
