Lunar Samples were handed over to University of Cologne
Prof. Carsten Münker was selected by CNSA as one of the seven research groups worldwide to receive the lunar sample collected by Chang'e 5 Mission
The China Office was the first foreign office of the University of Cologne, founded in 2007. Right now it is physically located at the China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL). Together with RWTH Aachen, University of Siegen, University of Jena, and Bayerisches Hochschulzentrum, the “Project Office of German Universities in China” was established and has been coordinated by the University of Cologne since. For Cologne students, researchers and professors, the China Office serves as first point of contact regarding their studies and academic collaboration with China. For delegations from Cologne, the office organizes and accompanies trips to Chinese universities and academic institutions.
For joint activities in China, the University of Cologne also coordinates the China-NRW University Alliance, which includes five universities from North Rhine-Westphalia.
UoC China Office offers services for Cologne professors and students to foster their international experience and also for higher education institutions and students in China for their academic exploration in Cologne. Networking is the key feature in the internationalization of the University. The China Office has experience in various formats of collaboration with partner institutions from Germany and China.

Through its network and regional expertise, the UoC China Office opens up a variety of cooperation opportunities, as in the case of the UoC's delegations visit in 2019:
"[This] was a very special experience for me: I was able to know a few different and highly attractive universities in two exciting cities such as Shanghai and Beijing, and also I was spontaneously invited by my German Studies colleague to a guest professorship in spring 2020, where possibilities for further cooperation will be explored. All this would hardly be possible at this pace and intensity without preparation and support of our colleague Qiu Lan on site."
