Handbook on Best Practices for „International Joint Acceleration Programmes“ (IJAP)

The IJAP Handbook examines how higher education institutions can combine internationalization and entrepreneurship to better support startups. Based on interviews with (prospective) founders and startup counseling centers, it focuses on the specific needs of “born global” ventures. The handbook identifies common challenges and opportunities, emphasizing cooperation between innovation centers and international offices. It presents practical examples and best practices that help institutions strengthen support structures and foster internationally oriented entrepreneurial activity.

Handbook on Best Practices to Support International Students in Entrepreneurship

This handbook explores the entrepreneurial potential of international students, scholars, and individuals with refugee experience. It examines legal, cultural, and psychosocial barriers that can affect their ability to start a business, as well as the role of higher education institutions in addressing these challenges. Based on research and practical insights, the handbook outlines support strategies that combine entrepreneurial guidance with intercultural and legal expertise. It offers recommendations for developing consultation and support structures tailored to internationally mobile and migrant learners.

Entrepreneurial HEIs – Supporting Female Entrepreneurs

This handbook examines how higher education institutions can better support female entrepreneurs. It analyzes barriers faced by women students and researchers, as well as existing support structures and coping strategies. Drawing on case studies from Germany, Spain, and Italy, it presents practical approaches to developing tailored entrepreneurship programs for women. The handbook also introduces a self-assessment tool based on the HEInnovate framework, helping institutions evaluate and strengthen gender-sensitive entrepreneurship strategies while considering cultural differences.

PR4 - University of Cologne

Training Courses: International and Female Entrepreneurs

This training course translates research findings into practical learning resources for higher education institutions. It provides educational materials and self-assessment tools based on the HEInnovate framework to support trainers working with international, refugee, and female entrepreneurs. The online course includes three modules: a general business toolkit, guidance on supporting international and refugee student entrepreneurship, and a module focused on women’s entrepreneurship. Developed through international collaboration, the program helps trainers strengthen intercultural and entrepreneurial support for diverse student founders.

Multiplier Events

Multiplier events disseminated PR insights to the local networks of all project partners. Additionally, startups from other project partners have been invited to the event to connect with the local network and advance their international/transnational business concepts.

Outcomes of our actions with relevant stakeholders have been shared, this included international and refugee organizations, organizations that empower women, other incubators, as well as associations and companies, to establish enduring and stable collaborations.
