An important aim of environmental atmospheric research is the development of a scientific operative model of air pollution dispersion for the medium and long range forecast of ozone over Europe. Therefore individual system components are developed by different groups (German Weather Service, University of Karlsruhe, University of Stuttgart and University of Cologne), which are integrated and connected in a model network. The present contribution is the incorporation of a Chemistry Transport Model (CTM) in an operative forecast system. For this purpose, the CTM of the European Air pollution and Dispersion Moded System (EURAD), which is well approved for European case studies, will be used. The CTM will be close coupled with the dynamical model of the German Weather Service and with the emission model of The University of Stuttgart and will provide data for calculations on a smaller scale (e.g. over a German state). In order to reach this goal, extensive tests and sensitivity studies are necessary in the framework of a model network. The development of such a network is a new attempt for applications of a numerical model for air pollution studies, which should be used not only for the operative forecast but also for scientific purposes.
