Interior Monologues

As I mentioned last week, we are returning to paragraph writing. This week we will turn our attention to interior monologues. This will give you a chance to play with words and thoughts. The title of the assignment is "A Moment in the Life of a …". You can put your favorite animal, insect or (especially for KISD) object. You choose. Be as creative as you want and let the reader experience the animal's, insect's, or object's (?) thoughts for a moment. Below is an example of what I mean . . .

A Moment in the Life

Yummy, yummy! Was that ever good! Those caddisflies are the absolute best. I only wish I could sit out here on the rocks more often. I'd probably have lots of chances to munch on all sorts of scrumptious alderflies, damselflies and even dragonflies, if there just weren't any people around! Well, okay, I guess that's a little unfair to say. Not everyone is a problem. It's just those kids (and even their parents!) who ruin everything. They are always trying to catch me. If it weren't for them, instead of having to hide in the water and surviving off those icky mosquito larvae, which never fill me up, I could be sitting out all day sunning myself on the rocks and catching all those delicious flying creatures that venture overhead. I'd also be able to enjoy listening to all the other visitors who casually sit down next to the pond. They are always so relaxed and seem to have such a nice time just watching nature at its prime. And when they spot me, they always have so many nice things to say about me. Uh oh! There's another kid with a big jar trying to get me. Splash!

Now it's your turn. Enjoy!!

This is also a reminder about our meetings next week. Please check the respective location for you time and place. Hope to see you there. Münster, Cologne, KISD.

PS Would the numbers 30-50 please send their texts to me as well as to a peer editor this week? If you would rather, yo can send me the text from last week since it is longer. Thanks. That is if you want to.
