Research group led by Dr. Tomo Saric receives the University Sustainability Award 2025

At the University of Cologne, outstanding achievements were recognized across several categories as part of this year’s University Awards. A particular focus was placed on sustainability.

The award in this category was presented to the Sustainability Working Group of the Faculty of Medicine, led by Dr Tomo Saric, Faculty Representative for Sustainability. The recognition highlights the exceptional commitment of the group’s approximately 89 members, who systematically integrate sustainability-oriented approaches into research, teaching, and clinical practice.

The working group follows a holistic approach: in addition to raising awareness for sustainable practices in healthcare, it implements concrete projects on site. At the same time, it fosters an interdisciplinary network that brings together diverse perspectives and promotes continuous exchange and collaborative learning.

With this award, the university underscores the growing importance of sustainability in the medical field and recognizes the momentum generated by the group in advancing a future-oriented healthcare system.
