Precision Mechanic - Precision Mechanics

Precision mechanics master the precision. Among other things, they manufacture components for machines and precision mechanical devices and assemble them into functional units. 

The training, which combines both practical and theoretical aspects, is enjoyable and you learn a lot of new things.

  • At least Fachoberschulreife (technical secondary school entrance qualification) or erweiterter Hauptschulabschluss (extended secondary school leaving certificate)
  • Good performance in Mathematics, English and Physics
  • Technical interest and craftsmanship

Your tasks
 

  • You process various metals and plastics into electromechanical and electronic components and optical devices and systems
  • You assemble and repair precision and laboratory equipment
  • You install and check operation, control and measuring devices and put equipment for research and teaching into operation
  • You maintain precision equipment and machines and are responsible for their repair
  • You design and manufacture computer-aided in a 3D CAD/CAM network

The apprenticeship course
 

  • Duration of the apprenticeship: 3.5 years
  • The apprenticeship is offered in four institutes at the University of Cologne
  • You are trained with conventional and CNC-controlled machines
  • Weekly lessons at Hans-Böckler-Berufskolleg in Cologne
