Educational approach

The University of Cologne embraces a holistic understanding of education with a competency-based approach.  Research and academic skills shape both studies and work across all areas at our university:

  1. They are acquired from the ground up while being studied or taught and expanded through independent research activities.
  2. Research-based teaching and learning lay the foundation for this.
  3. Transfer activities serve to communicate research insights to a wider audience.

The University of Cologne’s Quality Management approach defines quality objectives and criteria that serve as the foundation for the effective, holistic and sustainable development of quality in studying, teaching and learning.
