The Department of Indonesian and Malay Languages and Literatures (Malaiologische Apparat) is part of the Department of Oriental Studies (Orientalisches Seminar) at the University of Cologne.
Teaching and research involves both traditional and contemporary literatures and languages of the Indonesian and Malay world (incl. Singapore and Brunei) in conjunction with cultural, historical and religious aspects, especially Islam in Southeast Asia.
The following study programs are offered:
